Adams and Jefferson had beliefs and plans that benefited certain geographic regions. Jefferson was supportive of farmers and what they needed, and since the south was the area based on agriculture, the south leaned more towards Jefferson. Adams was more industrial based, which was huge in the north, so Adams beliefs allied with northerners.
