you add the exponents so it would be 3^5

When you multiply exponents that have the same base, you add the exponents together and leave the base alone. So, [tex] 3^{2} [/tex] x [tex] 3^{3} [/tex] would simply be [tex] 3^{2 + 3} [/tex] or [tex] 3^{5} [/tex] .
